Guiding learning,
unlocking potential

Tonic Tuition is dedicated to unlocking students’ full potential and making each academic subject vibrant and engaging.

Our small collective of highly experienced tutors are committed to establishing a trusting relationship with our students and their families.

Tonic Tuition isn’t a large-scale tutoring agency. Instead, we are a small team of experienced tutors that tailor all lessons to the individual. This makes our tutoring approach personal as we care out every student – both academically but also on a personal level.

When parents decide to invest in either face to face, online or group tutoring, they are ultimately making an investment in their children’s future, with a clear focus on results. Tonic Tuition has a proven track record of consistently delivering the outcomes parents’ desire.

How we help students achieve their full potential

Our eight working principles effectively guide students towards achieving their best possible exam results.

Personal Learning

We tailor our lessons to meet individual needs, circumstances, strengths and learning styles.

Goal Setting

We set specific and achievable goals and create a roadmap for students to achieve them.

Effective study techniques

We teach effective study methods, such as active recall, exam technique and time management skills.

Exam style questions

We enable students to practice exam style questions. Many students lose marks because they find it challenging to transfer the understanding of a subject into an exam question.

Building confidence and self-esteem

We raise student self-esteem so that they believe in their abilities and approach exams with a positive mind set. Confidence helps alleviate exam-related anxiety, increase focus and instill skills for lifelong learning.

Engaging content

We make learning interactive and enjoyable to foster a genuine interest in the subjects covered.

Supportive environment

We create a safe and encouraging atmosphere where students feel comfortable asking questions and seeking help.

Resource accessibility

We provide access to various study materials, including ebooks, online resources and past papers.

What our students say

Parents' feedback

Ellie Simpson-Ball

Tonic Tuition director and head tutor

Ellie Simpson-Ball is both an academic and personal development tutor, placing as much importance on her students’ self-esteem as their exam results.

She is a member of The Tutors’ Association, the only governing body for tutors, and a qualified marker for GCSE and A level papers for the AQA, Edexcel and OCR exam boards.

Ellie launched Tonic Tuition in 2018 in response to a growing number of requests for her exceptional tuition skills and insight.

Ellie says:

“When I was studying for my BA in Philosophy and Politics at the University of Southampton, I had plans to become a commercial and employment barrister. However, while I was considering my options, I chose to launch Tonic Tuition into a full-time business as I felt my sparkle laid in Education.

I quickly realised the transformative impact of tutoring. The results were remarkable. I saw children’s confidence grow as they made important connections in their learning. It was massively rewarding to see not only their grades boost but also their self-esteem.

Word of my work spread, and in July 2018, while still at university, I launched Tonic Tuition and I hired a few select professionals to support my now rapidly growing business.

Since then, we’ve continued to expand every year, adding more students, tutors, subjects and services, and always maintaining the same commitment to delivering quality education that builds confidence in young learners.”
